Will AI Replace Jobs? The Real Threat Young People Should Be Talking About

By Tarun Singh June 2026 . 2 min read

“Bro, AI is going to take all our jobs.”

If you’ve spent even ten minutes on Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, or X recently, you’ve probably seen some version of that claim.

Artificial Intelligence is everywhere. It can write code, create images, answer questions, summarize documents, and even help build websites. As AI becomes more powerful, searches for terms like “Will AI replace jobs?” and “Is AI replacing engineers?” are increasing rapidly.

The fear is understandable.

But perhaps we’re asking the wrong question.

Instead of asking, “Will AI take my job?”, maybe we should be asking:

“What happens if everyone else learns AI and I don’t?”

Why Learning AI Matters More Than Fearing It

Imagine two engineering students graduating next year.

Both have similar grades.

Both have similar technical knowledge.

But one student has spent the past year learning how to use AI tools for coding, research, presentations, and problem-solving.

The other has ignored them completely.

Now both walk into the same interview.

Who has the advantage?

The answer doesn’t require artificial intelligence.

It requires common sense.

The reality is that technology has always rewarded people who adapt.

When computers entered offices, many feared job losses.

When the internet became mainstream, people predicted the end of countless careers.

Instead, those who learned the new tools gained an advantage over those who resisted change.

AI appears to be creating the same divide.

And let’s be honest.

Most of us have already used AI.

Maybe to understand a difficult topic before an exam or to get any knowledge about something.

Maybe to debug a Python program at 2 AM.

Maybe to improve a resume.

Maybe to finish an assignment when the deadline was getting dangerously close.

The technology is no longer something from the future.

It’s already part of everyday life.

Despite all the hype, however, AI still cannot replace curiosity, creativity, judgment, or ambition.

It can’t replace a teacher inspiring students.

It can’t replace an engineer solving a real-world problem.

It can’t replace a doctor making a critical decision.

And it definitely can’t replace the satisfaction of finally fixing a bug after hours of frustration.

AI can assist.

Humans still lead.

As the Hindi saying goes:

“जो समय के साथ बदलता है, वही आगे बढ़ता है।”

Those who adapt move forward.

For students and young professionals, the future of jobs may not be decided by AI alone.

It may be decided by how quickly people learn to work with it.

So no, AI probably isn’t coming to steal your job tomorrow morning.

But the candidate sitting in the next interview room, who spent the last year learning how to use AI effectively?

That person might.

And that’s the reality young people should be paying attention to.

What do you think?

will AI replace jobs, or simply reward those who learn how to use it?

Share your thought in the comments.
